Lets just say this is a road less traveled...

For our Anniversary we didnt have big plans. Conveniently it falls on the same weekend as gun season opens. Josh planned a special hunting date for us. He was so excited to have a newbie out in the woods with him He laid an entire outfit all out for me all the way down to the socks and hand warmers to put in my gloves. Special attention was even paid to the disgusting dirt soap I was to use that night to shower with, and wash my hair with. We left the house at O'dark thirty in the morning. Such a lucky girl that I am we stopped by the local Waffle House for some greasy breakfast before we got to the hunting club mmmm gross! Once we got there the highlight of my morning was hanging on while Josh whipped then four wheeler through the woods to his tree stand. Once we got close enough we hiked through the woods in the dark still. Trying not to trip on anything, there was no path to this tree stand just rocks, tree roots and who knows what else. Once we arrived we climbed up and had a seat. We got as comfortable as you can get in the very cold morning, way up in the trees.

And then the waiting began. First we waited for it to get light enough to see anything. Then we waited for something, deer preferably to walk past us. Still waiting, no talking and no moving we waited. Waiting, waiting, waiting. Nothing seemed to be happening. Luckily I could get good cell reception. I checked facebook, texted the kids, checked facebook. Finally I started doing some research on just what the heck you can do to make this a more active sport. I found some deer calls I could play on my phone to attract the deer. But nothing seemed to help. I think it may have been too early in the season. There didnt seem to be much activity in the woods that day.

My beautiful green realtree outfit. Dont be jealous.

The view was beautiful, and very peaceful. It was definitely a eye opening experience. I loved having that entire day to spend together and the knowledge of just what the heck takes so long to go hunting. I dont know if its a sport or hobby I want to take up for myself, but I dont mind playing along every once in a while....
